How much does it cost to grade a basketball card?

Use the current grader fee plus shipping, insurance and any submission-service cost. For modern rookies and parallels, the difference between a 9 and 10 often matters more than the headline grading fee.

A PSA 9 can matter more than the PSA 10 headline

Modern basketball is full of rookies and parallels where the top grade sells at a strong premium. The same card in a 9 can be much closer to raw value. Use both outcomes before submitting.

Surface and centering deserve a hard look

Chrome-style products can show fine scratches, dimples, print lines and centering issues. If those defects make a 10 less realistic, lower the probability instead of letting the best case drive the decision.

Match the exact parallel

Base, silver, numbered, color, autograph and short-print versions can have completely different markets. Use sold prices for the exact player, set, card number and parallel.
