How much does it cost to grade a baseball card?

The fee on a grader pricing page is only part of the cost. Shipping, insurance, supplies and submission-service fees can materially change the amount per baseball card, especially for a one-card submission.

Vintage baseball and modern rookies are different decisions

For vintage cards, authentication and scarcity can matter even at mid grades. For modern rookies, parallels and inserts, the premium may depend heavily on hitting a 10 instead of a 9. Model the market you actually have.

Centering and print quality can be decisive

Older baseball issues are well known for centering, print spots and edge wear. Modern chrome and foil cards add surface scratches and print lines. A realistic lower-grade scenario protects the calculation from a best-case assumption.

Use exact sold comps

Year, set, player, card number, variation, serial number and autograph status can all change value. Compare the exact card in the same grading company and grade.
