How much does it cost to grade a Pokémon card?

The real cost depends on the grader, service level, submission size, shipping, insurance and any middleman fee. Use the Card Grading Cost Calculator for the all-in order cost, then use this page to compare that cost with the raw and graded value of the exact Pokémon card.

Why the PSA 9 outcome matters

Collectors often compare raw value only with a PSA 10. A more useful check also looks at grade 8 and 9. If a 9 barely covers the fees, the submission depends heavily on hitting the top grade.

Condition details matter

Centering, corners, edges, surface scratches, print lines and whitening can all change the likely grade. The calculator does not predict a grade; it helps you see what each plausible grade would mean financially.

Use real sold values

Look up recent sold examples for the exact set, card number, language, variation and grader. Asking prices can be much higher than completed sales and can make grading look more attractive than it really is.

Hypothetical Pokémon grading example

These are example inputs, not market prices or a grade prediction. Suppose the raw card is worth 100, grading and shipping cost 30 in total, and the selling fee is 10% for both raw and graded sales. The raw net is 90. Enter graded values of 80, 120 and 200 for grades 8, 9 and 10: the net outcomes after fees and grading are 42, 78 and 150. Compared with selling raw, the differences are −48, −12 and +60. Match sold comparisons to the same set, card number, language and printing.

Grade scenarios are assumptions

The optional expected-value calculation covers only grades 8, 9 and 10, using probabilities you enter that must total 100%. It does not estimate those probabilities or include lower grades, rejection or an ungraded return. If those outcomes matter, the three-scenario expected value is incomplete. Compare scenarios rather than treat the best grade as guaranteed.

Check current grading fees

This calculator uses the fees you enter; it does not retrieve live PSA or CGC prices. Check the current service, declared-value limits, shipping and any applicable extra charges before submitting.
